MSL are one of the largest nationwide property maintenance companies and provide these services to the retail, commercial and industrial industries.

Professional Security Magazine have launched a sister magazine, Retail Security for which Astute have become sponsors.

Astute have already built a relationship with the Professional Security Magazine and will continue to feature within it while writing articles around current security topics and our own services which we provide to the retail industry.

Guarding for Debenhams

Astute Security were awarded a security guarding contract for Debenhams last month. Check out their website at http://www.debenhams.com/.

We are making a success of the guarding contract at the Debenhams Slough store and hope for many more contract opportunies with the large retailer.

The opportunity came from Astute's recent successful service launch for ad-hoc and refit security guarding.

Guard of the Quarter

Congratulations to John Thorpe from Wickes Coventry who received the 'Guard of the Quarter' reward and was presented with a bonus cheque by Deputy Store Manager Steve Hanson.

Store Manager Viron Patel commented "John is a very conscientious guard who is always on the ball. He is always on the lookout, knows exactly who to watch and always completes thorough and informative incident reports."

John received a reward of £150 and will receive the 'Guard of the Quarter' certificate.

Wilkinson Refit

Astute Security were awarded an ad-hoc security guarding contract for Wilkinson Stores in November which was featured in the latest newsletter. Check out their website at www.wilkinsonplus.com

We have successfully completed the guarding contracts at Kings Lynn and Maidstone and we are continuing to deliver our ad-hoc security services at the Selby and Basildon stores.

The opportunity came from a colleague recommendation and has coinsided with Astute's recent successful service launch for new store and refit security guarding.

Astute - The Best Security Company in the UK !!

Dear All,

Can you please forward this news to your various teams – its also posted on the Astute Blog site.

A superb effort on the ACS Audit from all concerned ensured we passed with flying colours. The Auditor feedback was that we were “the best security guarding company” he had audited. Not only can we now use the SIA and ACS logos this provides us with a valuable tool in business development and gains us independent kudos. Our insurance premiums have been reduced for example.

The summary feedback opening section of the report is excellent with high performance cited across all areas includinh mentions for Operations, Finance, HR, Group and IT functions. Its easy to miss the fact that we are really good at what we do until you compare us independently to the competition – great effort everyone !!

First Leisure Park Security Product Contract

Well Done!!! To Chris Pavey (Team Leader South East) who successfully gained a contract with Park Resorts. This is our first Leisure Park contract and although it is only local there is real scope to develop. Park Resorts have 32 sites nationally and are a great company to launch this new specialist product with.

 

Chris received a bottle of vintage champagne to show our gratitude for his efforts. Chris said “It’s a nice gesture to present me with the champagne. This is my first sale and great testament to the development program Astute have placed me on. Watch this space for more sales on the way”.

 

We are planning to bed the contract in over the next three months and product development is now underway. NICE ONE CHRIS.

Toys R Us

Astute have recently been awarded a Store Detective Contract for the South East region of Toys R Us. The team of SD’s will all work regionally with responsibilities for a group of stores. Vincent Matthews the Contract Manager states “By changing the location of Store Detectives throughout a region we are able to use approximately eight SD’s in each store. This will ensure that the covert nature of SD’s will be emphasised and allow the customer complete flexibility to tackle store losses”.

 

This is a major success for Astute adding the ‘blue chip’ brand of Toys R Us highlights the confidence of the marketplace in Astute’s service offering.

A clean, healthy and safe environment is important to everyone. As a company, Cotford Investigation & Security Services Limited trading as Astute Security recognises its legal and public responsibilities to minimise/prevent pollution of the environment and harm to human health as a result of its business operations.

 

Astute Security will achieve its policy objectives by implementing responsible management systems and procedures for staff, providing information and training, and promoting environmental awareness throughout the organisation. Periodic reviews and risk assessment will be undertaken in order to maintain adequate controls and to minimize the risk of environmental accidents.

 

Policy Objectives

 

Astute Security will comply with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations.

 

Consideration will be given to the environmental performance of suppliers of materials and services, contractors and sub-contractors.

 

Wherever practicable, products made from recycled or recyclable materials will be used. The use of toxic substances and solvents labelled as hazardous to health or the environment will be minimised.

 

Waste will be minimised at source wherever practical.

 

Buildings, services and processes will be operated efficiently to conserve energy and resources.

 

The mileage expense scheme has been designed to encourage the use of efficient cars and vehicles running to optimum performance and the alternative use of public transport where practical.

 

Responsibilities and Organisation

 

The prime responsibility for environmental matters lays with Guy Dungworth (Director) the executives in charge, with responsibility for policy implementation.

 

David Stubbs, Business Unit Manager is responsible for general policy, development of procedures and assisting implementation by managers and staff.

 

All staff are required to comply with this environmental policy, the related procedures and statutory requirements, and to report environmental hazards to their manager. Managers are responsible for their department/branch complying with policy and procedural arrangements.

 

The policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it continues to meet the Company's objectives and current legislation.
